Jefferson County had the second highest November unemployment rate in the state at 9 percent, according to a report released Tuesday by the state Department of Labor.
But compared to November 2012, the November 2013 jobless rate dropped in Jefferson County from 9.7 to 9.0 percent, Lewis County from 9.3 to 8.4 percent and St. Lawrence County from 9.3 to 8.3 percent.
Compared to October 2013, the November rate in Jefferson County increased from 8.7 to 9 percent and in Lewis County from 8 to 8.4 percent. In St. Lawrence County, it stayed even at 8.3 percent.
Compared to 2012, the unemployment rate in the 52-county upstate New York region fell from 7.7 to 6.6 percent; statewide, the rate dipped from 7.9 to 6.9 percent.
