FOWLER St. Lawrence County sheriffs deputies charged Ryan D. Martin, 38, of 166 Smith Road, on Wednesday with felony first-degree criminal contempt, misdemeanor criminal obstruction of breathing and second-degree harassment, a violation.
Deputies said they arrested Mr. Martin following a report of a domestic dispute between him and his wife, Kimberly, at their home. Mrs. Martin had been given a no-harassment order of protection against her husband March 13 by Town Judge Paul M. Lamson, which allowed the couple to live together so long as Mr. Martin did not commit any crime against her. . Deputies arrived at the scene on Christmas after receiving a 911 call from a child in the home. Upon arrival, deputies said Mrs. Martin had bruises and scratches allegedly caused by her husband.
He was arraigned in Town Court and released from St. Lawrence County jail, Canton, after posting $5,000 cash bail. The judge issued a no-contact order of protection in favor of Mrs. Martin, forcing Mr. Martin out of the home and preventing him from having any kind of contact with her.
