Man stabbed outside of State Street bar

City police are investigating a stabbing that took place early on New Year’s morning outside a State Street bar, leaving a 33-year-old man with a stab wound to his neck.

City police Detective James A. Romano said Wednesday afternoon that Jason B. Brown, 33, was stabbed in the neck about 2:30 a.m. following an argument outside the Pewter Mug, 1313 State St. Mr. Brown was taken to Upstate Medical University, Syracuse, with what were described as non-life-threatening injuries.

Detective Romano would not say whether police have any suspects, only that he intended to conduct “a bunch of interviews” to find out what happened.

“Everything took place in front of the establishment,” he said, declining to comment further.
