A 10-inch water main burst Saturday morning about 9:30 a.m. at 935 Sherman St., closing several intersections and flooding part of Pratt Street adjacent to Sherman Elementary School with what appeared to be about 2 to 3 feet of water.

The intersections of Sherman Street crossing Schley Drive, Pratt Street and Woodruff Street remained closed shortly before noon, as the Watertown Water Department and Department of Public Works worked to fix the break and clean up the water.

Crews on the scene said shortly before noon that the break had been isolated, and streams of previously gushing water had slowed.
