The Engineering Club at Jefferson Community College recently hosted the 10th annual Spaghetti Bridge Building competition with participation from 12 local schools and the Charles H. Bohlen Technical Center.
More than 135 students made up the 32 teams that participated in the Nov. 21 competition in the Robert R. and Jean S. Sturtz Theater. The bridges were judged based on their durability and weight.
Team Spaghetti Bridge, coached by Suzanne M. Fiacco, Colton-Pierrepont Central School, took first place and a cash prize of $100. Team Funky Town Noodle Squad, coached by Randy Shelmidine, South Jefferson Central School, took second place and a cash prize of $50. Team Spaghetti Monsters, coached by Walter J. Berwick, Bohlen Technical Center, took third place and a cash prize of $25.
