A man was injured in a hit-and-run accident shortly before 8 p.m. Sunday when his biicycle was struck by a vehicle on State Street and the driver left the scene.
The unidentified man ended up laying in the sidewalk near the Jet Gas station, with his mangled bike nearby. The man remained conscious as Guilfoyle Ambulance crews treated him at the scene before taking him to Samaritan Medical Center.
No information on his condition was available.
A city firefighter said the man was hit while riding the bike and the vehicle apparently went on going. It traveled east on State Street after it left the accident scene, he said.
Gaylord G. Larose said he had just seen the man at the Great American less than a block away when the two exchanged hellos.
I saw him grocery shopping and now his bike is all broke and hes going to the hospital, Mr. Larose said.
No additional information was available Sunday night.
