Massena man accused of stealing ice fishing shack

MASSENA — State police on Sunday charged William L. Kinney, 25, of 14177 Route 37, with petit larceny for allegedly taking an ice shack that he found, altering it and selling it to another person.

Police said they received a complaint from Cody A. Pernice, 24, of 33 Hepburn St., Norfolk, saying he bought an ice shack from Mr. Kinney for $75 in October and brought it onto Robinson Bay for the ice fishing season. He discovered it missing Dec. 30, and heard it was at the home of Jon Euto, 55, of 49 Churchill Road. Police said Mr. Euto claimed he built the shack and someone took it, showing police leftover building materials that matched the shack.

Mr. Kinney told troopers that in August 2012 he found an abandoned ice shack on Robinson Bay and took it home. He told police he altered it and sold it to Mr. Pernice.
