State police are seeking public assistance in their continued investigation into the December theft of a 1988-90 Kubota tractor from Nicholville.
Police said they received information that an unsuspecting buyer in Vermont may have purchased the tractor. The buyer may have arranged to meet the suspect in Ellenburg Center for the transaction Dec. 5, at the old K&L Store on Route 11, believing the transaction was legitimate, police said.
The tractor is orange and has a 4-foot loader/bucket on the front. It has no model decals on the hood and may have been repainted.
The suspect was operating a white 2005 Nissan Titan pickup and would have been towing a small, white utility trailer with aluminum fenders.
Anyone with information on this case is asked to call the state police Bureau of Criminal Investigation at 769-8406 (daytime) or 379-0012 (evenings and weekends).
