C-P, P-H basketball teams play to NAC East Division split

COLTON - The Colton-Pierrepont and Parishville-Hopkinton varsity basketball teams played to an NAC East Division hardcourt split on Tuesday.

BOYS GAME

In the boys matchup, the host Colts (2-6, 2-4) were able to gradually pull away from a 26-23 halftime lead in posting a 50-41 decision over the Panthers. Zach Farr struck for a game-high 24 points to lead the winning offense. Scott Boyce added 11 points folowed by Ethan Knight with seven, Riley Doyle with six and Jon Angleberger with two.

Wyatt Snell anchored the P-H (2-7, 1-4) effort with 16 points. Mike Burns added six followed by Ryan Snyder with five and Connor Sullivan with four while Mike Cook and Kobe Wells each finished with three. Garrett Hayes and Lucas Snell closed out the Panther’s scoresheet with two points apiece.

GIRLS GAME

In the girls game, the Lady Panthers outscored the host Lady Colts 13-9 in the fourth quarter to secure a 43-38 decision. Miranda Collins netted a game-high 18 points for P-H (2-2, 2-2) while Chelsea Putnam added 11 and Nicole White another 10, including a pair of threes, and Kodi Perkins logged four. The Panthers (2-2) used a 13-9 fourth quarter to post a victory over the host Colts (2-8, 2-4). Morgan Doyle produced 17 points for the Lady Colts (2-8, 2-4). Courtney Marsh added 11. Andrea Aldous (4), Eve Whalen (2), Kelsie Gilbert (2) and Rachel Vaccaro (2) rounded out the C-P scoresheet.

OTHER EAST BOYS

In the other NAC East Division boys game played on Tuesday, Chateaugay knocked off Tupper Lake 64-61. Jordan Martin fired in three three-pointers in the third quarter scoring 15 of his 20 points where the 3-3, 3-1 Bulldogs overcame a 33-32 deficit at halftime with a 22-18 advantage against the host Lumberjacks. Noah Bowes scored 23 points to lead Chateaugay.

Mitch Keniston scored 21 points for Tupper Lake (6-3, 4-1). Austin Gaginer added 11 and Morgan Stevens eight.

OTHER EAST GIRLS

A pair of other East Division girls matchups played on Tuesday, saw Madrid-Waddington beat Norwood-Norfolk 56-5 and Chateaugay handle Tupper Lake 41-10.

M-W 56, N-N 5: In Norfolk, the visiting Lady Yellowjackets (5-1, 4-0) held the Lady Flyers (0-5, 0-4 NAC East) scoreless in the second and fourth quarters and used a balanced offensive effort led by 12 points from Jenn King, nine points from Tess Knight and Olivia Parmeter, eight from Desiree Pryce, seven from Kayleigh Field and six from Sam Dugan.

Cadence Hunkins anchored the N-N effort with four points.

Chateaugay 41, Tupper Lake 10: Katie Beach tallied 14 points and Danielle Charland scored 12 leading the Bulldogs (5-1, 4-0) past Tupper Lake (1-6, 1-4) on the road.

Sidney Kulzer and Katie Zurek scored four points each for Tupper Lake.
