Snow Lover’s Trivia: Windells on the Road at Hunter Mountain

On February 22-23, Windells on The Road will return to Hunter Mountain in Hunter, NY, for its second consecutive year.

The program aims to deliver an affordable freestyle day camp experience to participants at a few select mountains nationwide with one weekend of private coaching, park progression, awesome activities, and a little taste of the “funnest” place on earth (as Hunter refers to itself). I concur, freestyling is fun at Hunter.

Participants will gain great new skills, receive free gear from event sponsors, and be entered to win a free session to a 2014 Summer Camp at Windell’s home base in Mt. Hood, Oregon. The program is open to snowboarders and skiers of all abilities.

Windells is a year round action sports camp located in Mt. Hood, Oregon. Rooted in the progression of snow sports, it offers programs for snowboarding, skiing, skateboarding and BMX. In the past 24 years, Windells Camp has played a key role in the advancement of the many of the world’s best athletes, including 18 Olympic Medalists. The On The Road With Windells Camp program aims to bring the state of the art experience that Windells offers to its guests in Oregon to participants across the country. Hunter Mountain is one of only four participating locations. The camp will also make stops in Snoqualmie, Washington, Brighton Resort in Utah and Stratton Mountain in Vermont.

The Windells program at Hunter includes lift tickets for the duration of the event, private coaching for all abilities, activities with “On The Road” sponsors, lunch vouchers, visits from local pro athletes, an impressive park set up, GoPro footage review with a coach, plenty of giveaways, discounts on area lodging, and a session closing pizza party. To register for the program, visit or call 1 (800) 765-7669.

Hunter Mountain is located in the Great Northern Catskills, just two and a half hours north of the metro New York area and an hour from New York’s Capital District. It is renowned for its snowmaking capabilities and for having a wide variety of terrain providing skiers and riders with a big mountain experience. The Empire Terrain Park at Hunter Mountain is one of the top parks on the East Coast.

Further news on Hunter Mountain is the December 21st opening of the Snowtubing Park, the largest in New York State. The resort made some major upgrades and expansions to their Snowtubing Park for the 2013-2014 ski season. New grooming technology and the addition of a brand new carpet lift more than double the park’s capacity. It now boasts up to 24 chutes; each 1,000 feet long. The new Snowtubing Park also includes a new mini tubing park and a fleet of family tubes that make it possible for children less than 42 inches tall to get in on the fun too.
