LISBON The Town Council is hoping to fill a vacancy on its Planning Board next month after four months without a full roster.
Rhonda L. Roethel resigned in September, citing a hectic schedule.
Town Councilor Robert O. McNeil said he hopes she will come back.
I think shed be an excellent member, he said. I think she was an excellent member.
Ms. Roethel said Thursday she remains unable to resume the position.
I just cant right now, she said. I can only do so much.
Ms. Roethel had served on the board for two years.
In the months since leaving the board, Ms. Roethel said, she has taken a position on the Fort La Presentation Association board of directors and joined the Elks Club.
Ive filled my time, she said.
Ms. Roethel also is heading up an effort to bring hydroelectric power production to Lisbon.
The Planning Board approves large building projects within the town as well as business expansions.
Most residential building projects are handled by the code enforcement officer.
At Wednesdays meeting, Mr. McNeil requested the Town Council wait until its Feb. 12 meeting to fill the vacancy on the Planning Board in order to either persuade Ms. Roethel to come back or find a replacement.
The Planning Board now has six of seven members: Stephen Wallace, Glen R. Harris, William Leary, Steven Jemison, Mark Hyde and William E. Wheeler.
Mr. McNeil and Councilor Susan M. Duffy are the Town Councils liaisons to the Planning Board.
