Clayton man charged with DWI, passenger injured, in Theresa accident

THERESA—A Clayton man was charged with driving while intoxicated and other traffic offenses early Thursday after state police responded to the scene of an accident on Creek Road.

According to police, Richard H. McCready III, 27, of 616 Theresa St., was driving on Creek Road when he lost control, overcorrected and flipped his vehicle. When police arrived, they said, they discovered he was intoxicated.

He was charged with DWI, failure to keep right, driving on the shoulders/slopes and imprudent speed.

Police said his blood alcohol content was 0.10 percent. Under state law, a BAC of 0.08 percent or more is considered proof of intoxication.

Mr. McCready’s passenger, Andrea M. Massa, 31, of Theresa, reportedly suffered minor cuts to her knees and was taken by ambulance to River Hospital, Alexandria Bay.

Mr. McCready was released to his mother and issued appearance tickets for Town Court.
