Louisville man accused of fighting with police


NORFOLK — A Louisville man who police allege became combative during a routine traffic stop for not wearing a seat belt is facing charges.

Town police on Thursday charged Jason J. Malone, 35, of 259 County Route 43, Lot 58, Louisville, with resisting arrest, third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, third-degree obstruction of government administration, all misdemeanors, and second-degree harassment, a violation.

Norfolk Police Officer Lucas J. Smith said that during a routine traffic stop at 11:45 a.m. on Raymond Street, he noticed that Mr. Malone did not have his seat belt on. Mr. Smith said Mr. Malone got out of the car and fought with him. Mr. Smith was assisted by state police during the incident.

Further information was not provided. Mr. Smith said the incident was under investigation and additional charges are pending.

Mr. Malone was arraigned in Town Court and sent to St. Lawrence County jail, Canton, on $2,000 cash bail.
