Canton girls climb to 5-1 in NAC

A poised shooting performance by Emily Pinckney and a stellar defensive effort by Tori Daley led the Canton Girls Basketball team to a 61-42 NAC Central win over St. Lawrence Central on Monday.

The Lady Bears climbed to 5-1 in Division I behind 5-0 Malone which visits OFA tonight and 6-2 overall.

Pinckney went 11-11 from the free throw line scoring a game-high 21 points and Daley led a defensive effort which held SLC standout Lindsay Thayer scoreless.

“Emily Pinckney shot the ball very well and Tori Daley never let up guarding the Thayer girl who got into foul trouble,” said Canton Coach Mike Meyers.

Pinckney finished with 21 points and Daley netted eight with 14 in the fourth quarter for the Bears who also received eight third-quarter points by Rachel Sanderson and seven points in the first half from Natalie DiSalvo. Chelsea Savage tallied 12 points to lead the Larries (5-3, 4-4) and Bailee Gauthier netted 10.
