DEXTER A Lowville woman had to be pepper-sprayed while being processed on charges stemming from an alleged domestic disturbance Saturday.
Crystal C. Martin, 36, of 5392 Bostwick St., Lowville, was accused of grabbing the neck of her sister, who was not named, about 9 p.m. Saturday, making it difficult for her to breathe. Additionally, it is alleged that she dug her fingernails into her sisters face, causing injuries to her sisters face, neck, lip and cheek areas. The alleged incident occurred in Dexter, Jefferson County sheriffs deputies said.
She was arrested at 2:27 a.m. Sunday in Dexter, arraigned in Glen Park Village Court and taken to the Metro-Jefferson Public Safety Building, Watertown, on $500 bail. At the PSB, deputies said, she became uncooperative and had to be pepper-sprayed. Additionally, they said, a small amount of marijuana was found in her purse when she was searched in the jail intake.
She was charged with third-degree assault, criminal obstruction of breathing, first-degree promoting prison contraband, a felony, and unlawful possession of marijuana.
