Thelma C. Mathison, 26, of 24985 Route 126, was arrested at her residence at 10:50 a.m. Wednesday on a warrant after city police said she misused food stamps.
Ms. Mathison was charged with third-degree welfare fraud, third-degree grand larceny, first-degree offering a false instrument for filing and misuse of food stamps, all felonies.
Though city police did not specify the amount of unlawful benefits Ms. Mathison allegedly received, she was charged with a class E felony, meaning the alleged value was between $1,000 and $3,000. If the value exceeded $3,000, the charge would have been a class D felony.
She was charged and transported to the Metro-Jefferson Public Safety Building and held pending arraignment in City Court.
