Josephine A. Fralonardo, 96, devoted wife of Victor D. Fralonardo for 74 years, died Sunday, January 12, 2014, at the Samaritan Medical Center.

Mrs. Fralonardo was born as Giorgina Compo, on May 13, 1917, in Watertown, New York, a daughter of John and Josephine DiDomenica Compo.

She married Victor Fralonardo on September 30, 1939, at St. Anthony’s Church with Monsignor Claude Sechi officiating.

Mrs. Fralonardo was an Outreach Worker for the Jefferson County Office for the Aging, retiring in 1982. She traveled throughout the county serving the elderly in their homes. She was a communicant of St. Anthony’s Church, a member of St. Anthony’s Altar Rosary Society, and the Knights of Columbus Auxiliary.

Her first priority was always her family. She loved spending time with them and spoiling everyone with her baking and cooking. Many times her meals included produce from her husband’s plentiful garden.

She enjoyed their family cottage and traveling with her husband.

Mrs. Fralonardo took joy in many activities, golf, bowling, playing cards, games and darts. After retirement, she loved swimming at the “Y” and playing bridge with her family and friends.

Surviving besides her husband, Victor are three daughters and their husbands; Anita and John Laurie, Sarasota, Fl., Jeanne and Cranson Gates, Baldwinsville, NY and Bonnie and John McLaughlin, Watertown, NY, three grandchildren Bethany Laurie Botzenhart, Judd Laurie and Elizabeth McLaughlin Cohen, four great grandchildren Cole and Paige Botzenhart, Georgia Cohen, Connor Laurie and several nieces and nephews. Two brothers George Compo and Joseph Chiappone, five sisters Rose Chiappone Diliberto, Lena Chiappone Gerace, Frances Chiappone Turturro, Rose Compo Bombardo and Phyllis Compo Pagano, all died before her.

Calling hours will be Thursday from 4-7 pm at the D.L. Calarco Funeral Home, Inc. 135 Keyes Avenue, Watertown, New York.

A prayer service will be Friday at 10:15 am at the funeral home and a funeral mass will be held at 11:00 am at St. Anthony’s Church with Reverend Donald A. Robinson, officiating.

Burial will follow in Glenwood Cemetery. Contributions may be made to St. Anthony’s Church, 850 Arsenal Street, Watertown, NY 13601.
