CANTON — Felix Abongo scored 29 points to lead the Clarkson University men’s basketball team to a 79-68 victory Tuesday over St. Lawrence University in a Liberty League game.

The Golden Knights (7-4 overall, 1-1 conference) built a 41-25 lead by the end of the first half, holding SLU to 10 of 24 shooting in the opening half.

Marques Charlton scored 16 points and handed outseven assists, and John Coleman added 10 points for Clarkson.

Kyle Edwards led the Saints (4-7, 1-2) with 16 points, while Al Jones scored 14 and Janpeter Brase 13.

CAYUGA CC 75, JEFFERSON CC 67

The host Cannoneers could not hold a 33-31 halftime lead, and dropped their third straight Mid-State Athletic Conference game to the visiting Spartans.

Dustin Pond scored 28 points, Ryan Tomlin had 16 and Damien Jackson 11 for JCC (4-9, 0-3).

Zaki Thomas led Cayuga (6-10, 1-2) with 24 points and Glenn Taggert contributed 14.

WOMEN’S BASKETBALL

ST. LAWRENCE 62, CLARKSON 49

Kara McDuffee scored 18 points and grabbed 12 rebounds to lead the Saints (6-5, 3-0) past the Golden Knights in a Liberty League game in Canton.

Cassie St. Hilaire added 16 points for SLU, with 12 coming on 3-point baskets. Kelly Legg tallied 17 points for the Saints and blocked three shots.

Katelyn Curtis led Clarkson (6-4, 1-1) with a 12-point effort. Ashley Loggins and Cara Manfredi each scored 11 for the Golden Knights.

JEFFERSON CC 91, CAYUGA CC 38

Jasmine Canady scored a season-high 32 points and contributed eight assists and six steals as the host Cannoneers routed the Spartans in a Mid-State Athletic Conference game.

Alyssa Crosby posted 26 points and 14 rebounds for Jefferson Community College (11-2, 3-0).

Allison Chase scored 13 points for Cayuga CC (1-14, 0-3).

WOMEN’S HOCKEY

HAMILTON 2, SUNY POTSDAM 1

Katie Parkman scored an unassisted goal with 30 seconds left in the second period to help Hamilton (4-5-1) edge SUNY Potsdam in a nonconference game in Potsdam.

Megan Fitzgerald also scored for Hamilton. Jessica Silveira scored for the Bears (6-6-2).
