Richard E. Ruger


Richard E. “Dick” Ruger, 78, of Chittenango, passed away on Sunday at St. Joseph’s Hospital. He was born on February 11, 1935 in Binghamton, NY, a son of the late Julian and Fannie Ells Ruger and was a graduate of Norwood-Norfolk Central School. He served in the US Army from 1955 to 1958. Dick lived in the Syracuse area for many years and was a member of the Kirkville Community Wesleyan Church. He retired from UPS in 1995 after 28 years of service as a truck driver. Dick is survived by his children Valerie Ruger of Kansas, Stuart Stevens (Jennifer) of North Carolina, Sandra Loveless (James) of Baldwinsville, Stephen Ruger (Tracy) of Cazenovia, and Sharon Kopp (David) of Baldwinsville; 19 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; sisters, twin Mary Jane MacDonald (Robert) of Norwood, Evelyn Knowlton of Waddington and a brother Rodney Ruger (Marilyn) of Oregon and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a sister, Esther Briggs. Calling hours are 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday at G.F. Zimmer Funeral Home, 702 Legion Drive, Chittenango, with a service to follow at 3 p.m. Contributions, in his memory, may be made to the American Cancer Society or Kirkville Community Wesleyan Church, 7691 Bridgeport Kirkville Rd, Kirkville, NY 13082.G.F.
