Brown downs struggling St. Lawrence, 5-3


CANTON — Brown University scored the game’s first four goals en route to a 5-3 win over St. Lawrence University in an ECAC Hockey game on Friday night at Appleton Arena, dealing the Saints their sixth consecutive loss.

Matt Lorito scored a goal and assisted on another — all in the first period — and Dennis Robertson scored a pair of power-play goals to spark the Bears (7-6-3 overall, 4-4-1 ECAC Hockey), whose unbeaten streak is now at six games (4-0-2).

Jeremy Wick scored a goal and assisted on another for St. Lawrence (8-11-2, 2-5-2), which has lost nine of its past 11 games.

Goalie Matt Weninger stopped 22 of 27 shots for the Saints.

Freshman netminder Tyler Steel made 34 saves to record the win for Brown.

Later, Robertson was ejected during the final minute of the game and received a major penalty and game misconduct for head-butting Wick.As a result, Brown’s captain will have to sit out tonight’s game at No. 14 Clarkson.
