CANTON — Cornell Cooperative Extension of St. Lawrence County will offer a poultry marketing panel discussion at 7 p.m. Jan. 31 at the Extension Learning Farm on Route 68.

The discussion focusing on the chicken market and producer cooperation will be broadcast that night to Extension-hosted sites in Malone and Watertown.

Topics will include the advantages and disadvantages of farmers working together, marketing of chickens from the St. Lawrence Extension’s hoophouse project, coordinating production to fit the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s mobile processing unit schedule, opportunities with online food marketing, how the cost of raising chickens relates to cooperative pricing and selling locally versus out of the area.

The broadcast also will be available by Web connection. For more information, contact Betsy Hodge at bmf9@cornell.edu, or call 379-9192; for information on sites other than Canton, call the local Extension office.
