POTSDAM — Reachout of St. Lawrence County is looking for people to volunteer as telephone counselors for its 24-hour crisis intervention and information and referral hotline, which has been in existence for more than 35 years.

Prior experience in crisis work is not required as a course of individually paced training is provided by the hotline. Volunteers should be warm, open-minded, respectful, empathetic and able to develop a rapport with callers.

Reachout is seeking volunteers from across the county. Applicants must be at least 18, have reliable transportation to Reachout’s office in Potsdam, have at least five hours per week to volunteer, be willing to commit to one year of service and be able to attend the training weekend Feb. 7 to 9.

To apply, visit www.reachouthotline.org/apply, or call Reachout at 265-2422. Applications are due by 5 p.m. Feb. 4.
