CANTON — The board of directors of the St. Lawrence County Chamber of Commerce has begun its search for an executive director to replace Patricia L. McKeown, who will retire in May.

Ms. McKeown, who announced her retirement plans in October, has been head of the chamber since 2007, when she became interim director after Karen M. St. Hilaire left to be county administrator. Ms. McKeown was named executive director in 2008.

The chamber’s board wants to have Ms. McKeown’s replacement by mid-April.

Interested candidates should submit a letter of application, resume and three references by Feb. 17. For more information, visit www.personestaffing.com.

To submit an application, email chamber@personestaffing.com.

Ms. McKeown has been instrumental in the chamber’s role in FishCap — which promotes the St. Lawrence River valley as a fishing destination — and worked with the town of Waddington to host the Bassmaster Elite Series. She has overseen chamber initiatives that include business spotlights, the annual junior carp tournament, the holiday Craft, Food and Wine Show, and the Really Big Show.

“I never sought this job, but once I was in it, I realized what a great opportunity it was to apply everything I knew for the betterment of the county,” Ms. McKeown said in a statement. “I’ve never had a job that was simultaneously such fun, so exciting, and, without question, the most challenging prospect for expansion all at the same time.”
