Jefferson Community College will host a musical presentation, Finding the Greatness in You, at 7 p.m. Friday, Feb. 7, in Sturtz Theatre at the McVean Student Center.
The show is free and stars Grammy Award winner Common, a rapper, actor, author and founder of the Common Ground Foundation, a Chi- cago-based organization that motivates youth to realize their full potential and learn about self-respect and love in an environment that fosters personal growth.
Common, a Chicago native, received his first Grammy award in 2003 for best rhythm and blues song, Love of my Life, and since has received 10 more Grammys. He has recorded nine albums, with two produced in collaboration with hip-hop recording artist Kanye West.
Prior to Commons presentation, audience members will be treated to a mini performance by hip-hop saxophonist Matt Corey, who received the male solo artist of the year award for three consecutive years.from the Association for the Promotion of Campus Activities.
