Watertown- William F. Wise, 93, East Hoard St., passed away Sunday January 19th at his home surrounded by his family and under the care of Hospice of Jefferson County.

A prayer service will be 10:15 am Friday, January 24th at the Reed & Benoit Funeral Home followed by an 11 am funeral mass at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Church with Rev. Jonas Tondayu officiating. Burial will follow in Glenwood Cemetery. Calling hours are Thursday, January 23rd from 4 pm - 7 pm at the funeral home. Contributions may be made to Hospice of Jefferson County, 1398 Gotham St., Watertown, NY 13601.

Mr. Wise was born January 18, 1921 in Watertown, a son to Frederick A. and Delia J. VanDusen Wise. Following his graduation from Watertown High School, Bill went to work at the New York Air Brake until being drafted on April 3, 1943 in to service during WW II. He served in the Asiatic-Pacific Theatre of Operations with the Navy as a Motor Machinist’s Mate. Bill was honorably discharged from the Navy December 16th, 1945, returning to Watertown and resuming his job at the New York Air Brake. He served in various departments at the Air Brake for many years until retiring on January 1, 1983 as supervisor in the machine shop.

He was a member of Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Church, a life member of the North Side Improvement League, the Willowbrook Golf Club and the DAV. He was an avid golfer, enjoyed woodworking and tinkering in his garage.

Bill married Josephine Maiolo December 19, 1942. She passed December 1, 1974. He later married Mary Bushnell Dean Brunell May 24, 1980. She passed December 1, 2000.

He is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, William II and Ann Wise; David and Martha Wise, all of Watertown. Five grandchildren, Tammy Pais, William III, Timothy M., Jeffrey and Jessica M. Wise. Several great grandchildren and one great great grandson. Several nieces and nephews. Two brothers, Robert and Joseph Wise and a sister Betty Barney predeceased him.
