College sports: St. Lawrence track wins 5 of 6 weekly awards


The St. Lawrence University men’s and women’s indoor track and field teams nearly swept the Liberty League’s weekly honors, winning five of the six available categories.

The Saints’ Nick Crawford and Carly Stine were the respective men’s and women’s track performers of the week after SLU swept its own invitational last weekend. Crawford won three events and appeared on a winning relay. Stine won the pentathlon and participated in a winning relay.

SLU’s Al Kabia and Marisa Turner won the respective men’s and women’s field awards for their showing at the invitational. The Saints’ Joe Smith was named the league’s men’s rookie of the week.

The Saints’ Amr Khalifa received performer of the week honors in squash. In men’s basketball, Clarkson’s Felix Abongo and SLU’s Kyle Kobis were honorable mention picks. In women’s basketball, Ashley Loggins of Clarkson was an honorable mention.
