Airmen who completed basic training also earned four credits toward an associate degree in applied science through the Community College of the Air Force.

Winners: Students from 12 north country high schools formed 32 teams and participated in the 10th annual Spaghetti Bridge Building Competition, held Nov. 21 at Jefferson Community College, Watertown. More than 135 students designed, built and tested bridges for durability and weight.

First place, $100 — Team Spaghetti Bridge, Colton-Pierrepont Central School, Colton: Coached by Suzanne M. Fiacco, Andrew A. Jenkins, Scott F. Boyce and Sabrina C. Johnson

Second place, $50 — Team Funky Town Noodle Squad, South Jefferson Central School, Adams: Coached by Randy Shelmidine, Brendan T. Cataldo, Hunter L. Merrill, Christopher R. King and Bradley J. LaLone

Third place, $25 — Team Spaghetti Monsters, Charles H. Bohlen Jr. Technical Center, Watertown: Coached by Walter J. Berwick, Andrew H. Davis, Kyle C. Gebhardt and Anthony Morrison
