Before graduating from Clayton High School she watched the 1000 Island Bridge be built, allowing people to drive instead of taking the family Ferry. She was also the Postmaster at the Fineview Post Office for 20 years. Donald predeceased her in 1980. By 1991, she had retired and found love again and married Eugene Kleinhans, the town Judge. Retirement did not suit her, and she went to work as the court clerk for her husband.
She was a member of Fineview United Methodist Church and was Treasurer of the Riverside Cemetery, Wellesley Island. She loved the seasons on The River, watching the ships, reading, and especially her pets. A picture of her beloved Missy was with her as she passed.
