Pedestrian hurt in North Massey Street accident

A Watertown man was injured Monday evening when a vehicle backed into him in the parking lot of 103 N. Massey St., police said.

Ryan J. Spencer, 28, of 640 Bronson St., Apt. 5, was walking behind the vehicle of Jill M. Thompson, 28, of 140 St. Mary St., at approximately 6:58 p.m. Monday when she backed out of the parking lot, striking Mr. Spencer and knocking him to the ground.

According to Ms. Thompson, she thought it was clear to back out, but then heard Mr. Spencer shouting and saw him standing behind her vehicle.

After the accident, Mr. Spencer requested a ride to Samaritan Medical Center from Ms. Thompson to be evaluated due to a prior medical condition. He said he can’t remember what happened and believed he was knocked unconscious. According to the accident report, Mr. Spencer complained of head pain.

Ms. Thompson’s car was not damaged and no citations were issued.
