■ The smoking cessation class canceledWednesday night at Samaritan Medical Centerhas been rescheduled for Feb.19.

n PORT LEYDEN — The Lyonsdale Town Council will now hold its regular monthly meetings at 7 p.m. on the second Tuesday of the month at the town office on Pearl Street.

n Republican Eugene J. Langone Jr., Watertown, will announce formally that he is running for Jefferson County Family Court judge at 4 p.m. Friday at the Italian-American Civic Association, 192 Bellew Ave.

n The temperature in Watertown hit a record low of minus 25 degrees in the 24 hours that ended at 8 a.m. Wednesday, surpassing the previous low of minus 22, set in 1931, according to city water filtration plant records.

n The General Brown Central School District Board of Education will meet on Monday at the high school. The meeting will begin at 5:15 p.m. Future board meetings will begin at 5:15 p.m. as well.
