Massena Chamber names Photo Contest winners


MASSENA - The Greater Massena Chamber of Commerce has named the winners of its first Massena Winter Carnival Photo Contest.

Chamber President Miriam Catapano said, “We are so pleased with all the wonderful photos that were submitted for our Winter Carnival Photo Contest. Our judges told us it was very difficult to make a decision, as did many of the individuals who came in to vote for the People’s Choice.”

Winners – Child Category

1st Place Winner – Caitlin Layaw ‘Tranquility’

2nd Place Winner – Emily Witkop ‘Sunset with Fin’

3rd Place Winner – Laura Siddon ‘Iced In’

Winners – Adult Category

1st Place Winner – Ross Johnson ‘Winter on the River’

2nd Place Winner – Travis MacDonald ‘Hay Bales of Fall’

3rd Place Winner – Marilyn Gollinger ‘Iced Tree’

People’s Choice – Child Category: Laura Siddon ‘Iced In’

People’s Choice – Adult Category: Ross Johnson ‘Winter on the River’

“The Massena Chamber would like to thank everyone who submitted a photo, those who came in and voted for the People’s Choice and especially our judges: Larry Prashaw, Bob Beckstead and Nathan Lashomb,” Ms. Catapano said.

The winning photos will be on display Saturday and Sunday at the Frank S. McCullough, Jr. Hawkins Point Visitors Center. “Make sure to stop in to view them when you take a break from enjoying the GeoCaching on the trails at Hawkins Point and be sure to visit the vendors at our Winter Carnival Market on Saturday and the Kid’s Day on Sunday,” she added.

First, second and third place winners in the Adult category will receive $100, $75 and $50 respectively. First, second and third place winners in the Child category will receive gift certificates from the St. Lawrence Centre Mall in the amount of $100, $75 and $50 respectively. Our People’s Choice Winners will receive a certificate.
