Carthage Area Hospital, nurses union continue contract negotiations

CARTHAGE — Representatives of 57 registered nurses at Carthage Area Hospital who belong to the New York State Nurses Association have been unable to agree on new contract terms with the hospital since May.

According to a recent hospital news release, the hospital had last offered “to absorb increases in health care benefits and did not propose any increases or decreases in salary, benefits, or request any concessions.” No specific information about negotiations was available Wednesday from a representative of the state association, nor hospital spokeswoman Natalie M. Burnham.

While the news release said hospital and association officials will continue to work toward finding a solution, the association will hold an informational picket from 3:30 to 5 p.m. Monday on Hospital Drive, in front of the hospital, 1001 West Street Road.
