American Veterans to hold information meeting for volunteers

LOWVILLE — Disabled American Veterans will hold a second informational meeting at 6 p.m. Thursday at the municipal offices, 5535 Bostwick St., for potential volunteer drivers for an expansion of services in Lewis County.

Volunteers will drive Lewis County veterans enrolled in Veterans Affairs health care to clinics in Watertown, Rome and Syracuse. A 2014 Ford Explorer donated by the program will arrive in the spring. All volunteers are required to be processed through the Syracuse VA Medical Center, where they will be fingerprinted and receive a physical and orientation.

The center is open Mondays and Wednesdays from 8 to 9:30 a.m. for the physical and 10 a.m. for orientation, followed by fingerprinting.

For more information about the meeting or processing, call volunteer recruiter William G. Gleason at 425-4343.
