Clarkson’s Rattray sets all-time scoring mark

POTSDAM — Jamie Lee Rattray became Clarkson University’s all-time leading women’s goal-scorer in style, producing a hat trick as the Golden Knights defeated Colgate 5-2 in an ECAC Hockey game at Cheel Arena.

Rattray set the record with her first goal in the game, which was the 68th of her career, breaking Melissa Waldie’s record set from 2007-11.

Vanessa Gagnon and Carly Mercer also scored goals for the Golden Knights (18-4-3 overall, 9-2 2 conference).

Taylor Volpe and Jocelyn Simpson scored for Colgate (5-18-2, 2-11).

ST. LAWRENCE 1, CORNELL 1 (OT)

Carmen MacDonald stopped 51 shots as the Saints (6-14-3, 5-5-3) tied the Big Red in an ECAC Hockey game in Appleton Arena.

Jenna Marks scored an unassisted goal for the Saints at 12 minutes, 23 seconds of the first period. Hanna Bunton tied the game for Cornell (14-2-4, 9-1-3) with an unassisted goal at 14:01 of the third period.

SUNY CANTON 1, NEW ENGLAND 1 (OT)

Karley Cree scored 11 seconds into the third period for SUNY Canton (6-12-3) in a tie with the University of New England in a nonconference game in Biddeford, Maine.

Jenni Poulin scored at 4:10 of the third period to tie the game for New England (5-9-4).

SUNY Potsdam 2, CHATHAM 0

Alexane Rodrigue made 17 saves to help SUNY Potsdam shut out Chatham (3-11-2, 2-7) in an ECAC West game in Potsdam. Amanda Lucky and Jessica Silveira scored for the Bears (8-6-3, 4-3-3).

MEN’S HOCKEY

SUNY PLATTSBURGH 4, SUNY POTSDAM 2

SUNY Plattsburgh scored all four goals in the second period to defeat SUNY Potsdam (6-11, 1-7) in a SUNYAC game in Potsdam.

Alex Brenton led the Cardinals (15-2-2, 8-0-2) with two goals. Connor Gorman scored one goal with one assist, and Dakota Mason scored the other goal for the Cardinals.

Adam Place and Matt Thompson scored for the Bears.

MEN’S BASKETBALL

ST. LAWRENCE 73, BARD 48

Kyle Edwards tallied 15 points to help the Saints (6-7, 2-2) to victory in a Liberty League game in Annandale-on-Hudson.

Al Jones scored 13 points and Kyle Kobis and Brady Condlin each produced 12 for the Saints. Kieran Miller added 10 points and 10 rebounds.

Lamar Powell scored 15 points to pace Bard (5-9, 0-5).

VASSAR 69, CLARKSON 51

Alex Snyder produced 17 points as Vassar (12-3, 4-2) won a Liberty League game in Poughkeepsie. Johnny Mrlik scored 16 points and Erikson Wasyl and Curtis Smith each tossed in 15 for Vassar.

John Coleman scored 22 points to lead Clarkson (7-7, 1-4) and Felix Abongo added 12.

SUNY CANTON 94, SUNY ESF 62

Tyler Ellison and Adam Felt both scored 17 points as SUNY Canton (3-10) won a nonconference game in Canton.

Scott Bartenstein scored 11 points and Sam Annorh and Khalil Bratton each tallied 10 for the Kangaroos.

Suthod Young led SUNY EST (5-9) with 16 points while Sage Beemer and Ryan Caldwell both tossed in 10.

FREDONIA STATE 87, SUNY Potsdam 61

A 45-point effort from Tyrone Clark helped host Fredonia State (4-11, 1-7) win a SUNYAC game.

Markus Williams scored 11 points and John Kovach added 10 for Fredonia State.

Rob Duquette led the Bears (2-13, 0-8) with 17 points and 10 rebounds.

WOMEN’S BASKETBALL

ST. LAWRENCE 55, BARD 47

Kelly Legg scored 13 points and snagged eight rebounds as St. Lawrence (8-4, 4-0) defeated Bard in a Liberty League game at Annandale-on-Hudson.

Caroline Dalton scored 12 points and Kara McDuffee added 10 points and nine rebounds for the Saints.

Tytravia Riley led Bard (1-13, 0-5) with 20 points and 14 rebounds.

VASSAR 67, CLARKSON 50

Cydni Matsuoka scored 18 points to help the Brewers (12-3, 5-1) defeat the Golden Knights in a Liberty League game in Poughkeepsie.

Cara Manfredi tallied 15 points to lead Clarkson (6-7, 1-4). Ashley Loggins scored 10 points and snagged 10 rebounds.

FREDONIA STATE 74, SUNY POTSDAM 57

Becky Hebert and Jaimie Warren each produced 18 points as host Fredonia State (9-5, 4-4) beat SUNY Potsdam in a SUNYAC game.

Sabrina Macaulay contributed 16 points for Fredonia.

Hannah Kmiecinski scored 14 points to lead the Bears (4-11, 2-6).

SWIMMING

KNIGHTS, BEARS SPLIT

Clarkson’s men and SUNY Potsdam’s women produced wins as the Potsdam schools met at Clarkson.

The Golden Knights won the men’s meet 163-115 and SUNY Potsdam won the women’s meet 167-101.

Al Catano led Clarkson’s men with wins in the 100-meter backstroke, as well as the 200 backstroke. Ty Zapisek won the 50 and 100 freestyles for the Bears and Richard Zimmerman took the 200 breaststroke and 200 individual medley for SUNY Potsdam.

Kristin Canjura led the Bears’ women with wins in the 400 and 800 freestyles. Sarah Halstead claimed the 100 backstroke, 200 backstroke and 200 IM for Clarkson.

SKIING

MARTIN, MENG LEAD SAINTS

Senior Dustin Martin finished in 16th place for SLU’s Alpine team at the New Hampshire Carnival at Attitash Mountain. The Saints men claimed sixth place in the standings.

Austin Meng led SLU’s Nordic team with a 19th-place finish at the Jackson Touring Center. SLU placed seventh as a team.
