Jefferson Community Colleges 7th Annual Super Science Saturday, designed for students in grades 5 through 8, is slated for Feb. 8 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The event will take place in the Jules Center, McVean Student Center and Guthrie Science Building. All family members are welcome to attend. Admission is free.
Super Science Saturday is a celebration of math and science and an exploration of science careers with interactive exhibits including a giant 20-foot-long, walk-through colon.
Students will have the opportunity to explore and see how much fun science can be by participating in hands-on demonstrations. JCC faculty, assisted by current students, will give demonstrations in zoo keeping, chemistry, biology, geology, math, engineering and health-related careers.
The event will feature a chemistry magic show presented by James Peploski of Clarkson University and a laser and rainbow show presented by Thomas C. Altman. Several community organizations will be on hand to share career information and put on interactive activities with students.
