LOWVILLE From traditional to trendy, the Lewis County Bridal Show offered a room full of ideas and vendors for future brides.
After six years at the Lowville Elks Lodge, followed by a one-year hiatus, the show returned to Lowville, this year at the Ridgeview Inn, 6912 Bardo Road.
We always hold it the last Saturday in January, said Helen Johnson of R&H Creations, who co-organizes the event with Connie J. Noftsier, of All Things Beautiful Photography.
We really take it year by year, said Mrs. Johnson, explaining last years absence. With multiple vendors unavailable, they didnt schedule the event.
This year, a booking conflict with the Elks Lodge brought the event to Ridgeview Inn, where a new banquet space housed 20 vendors, plus room for a sample head table and two seating arrangement settings.
Returning vendors, Ernie and Cheryl Prievo, of Perfectly Pictured Photo Booth, Carthage, were happy with attendance.
Its definitely worth it, said Mr. Prievo. When they attended two years ago, they were just starting out, but since then business has been growing.
Elizabeth Bettger, with Cupcake Sweety, was a first-time vendor. New to the area, she said the event was the perfect setting to show off her cupcakes.
A website or business cards may spread her business name, but cupcakes need to be tasted. Mrs. Bettger passed out nearly 300 cupcakes.
For me, one of the best things was getting to talk to the other vendors. Its great to be able to network with other people in the business, she said.
Along with anticipated offerings, such as cakes, photography, music services, flowers, food and wine, items for brides to slim down before the big day were new to the event.
Vendors with body wraps and diet drinks and supplements were also on hand.
Nearly 60 brides-to-be visited the booths throughout the day.
