The memorial service for Sandra Lee DeLong of 314 S. Rutland Street, Watertown will be on February 1, 2014 at Noon in the chapel of TLC Funeral Home, Inc. Mrs. DeLong died at the Samaritan Medical Center on January 24, 2014. She was 66.
She was born on December 16, 1947 in Petersburg, VA to Marvin W. and Elizabeth Lawson Gwaltney. She graduated from Colonial Heights High School in Virginia and received her two Bachelors Degree from Mars Hills, North Carolina in education and in English. She then continued her education in Austin Prey, TN where she received her Masters Degree in Elementary Education.
She married Ralph Judd DeLong on September 1, 1972 at the Ettrick Baptist Church in Ettrick, VA.
She worked as an elementary teacher for various school districts for twenty years throughout New York, Pennsylvania and Germany. For the past twenty two years, she was a day care supervisor at Fort Drum Military Installation until she retired in 2010.
She enjoyed reading, going to the movies, taught line dancing, going to Country Music Concerts and traveling.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made in her name to the Childrens Miracle Network. Surviving are her husband Ralph Judd DeLong of Watertown, her mother Elizabeth Gwaltney of Colonial Heights, VA her daughter and son in law Mrs. Lee (Laura) Farrell of Watertown a son Russell DeLong of Killeen, TX, a brother Rev. and Mrs. M. Wallace and Gail Gwaltney of Oregon, a sister and brother in ;law Mrs. Scott (JoAnn) Reams of Colonial Heights, VA, her four grandchildren Corey Farrell of Watertown, Casey Farrell of Black River and Ryan and Riley DeLong of Watertown.
