Heuvelton man charged with making meth

HEUVELTON — A Heuvelton man was arrested Monday evening for allegedly manufacturing methamphetamine.

St. Lawrence County Drug Task Force members charged Eric S. Lalonde, 29, of 4555 Route 812, with third-degree unlawful manufacture of methamphetamine and third-degree criminal possession of marijuana, both felonies.

Detectives said the arrest followed an ongoing meth lab investigation in Heuvelton and that more arrests are expected.

Calls to task force members were not returned Tuesday for more information. Assisting officers also were not available for additional comment.

Mr. Lalonde was arraigned in Oswegatchie Town Court and was sent to St. Lawrence County jail, Canton, without bail.

Detectives were assisted by sheriff’s deputies as well as task force members of the Ogdensburg and Gouverneur police departments.

On Jan. 16, Ogdensburg police charged Mr. Lalonde with six misdemeanor counts of seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance after he allegedly tried to smuggle 27 Suboxone strips, one OxyContin pill, 27 clonazepam pills, one buprenorphine hydrochloride pill and four methylphenidate pills into the St. Lawrence Addiction Treatment Center, Ogdensburg.

Suboxone and buprenorphine hydrochloride are drugs used to treat opiate addiction. OxyContin is a narcotic painkiller. Methylphenidate is a drug used to treat attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder.

Mr. Lalonde was arraigned by City Judge A. Michael Gebo and released to probation supervision on the misdemeanor charges.
