BLACK RIVERA Chaumont man was charged with felony grand larceny Wednesday morning after state police said he took a down payment on a roofing and insulation job.
Luke J. Kampnich, 39, of 30053 Fox Corners Road, was accused of taking a $6,770 payment toward work at the residence of Anthony J. and Vivian A. Crupi, 23100 County Route 144.
Police said Mr. Kampnich gave an estimate of $13,540 to do the work on the house, but asked for 50 percent of the money to be paid up front. According to police, he never did the work.
He was arrested at 9:32 a.m. at the state police barracks in Pamelia and charged with third-degree grand larceny, a class D felony. He was arraigned in Glen Park Village Court and released on his own recognizance.
