Adams- Elizabeth A. Bacon, 90, formerly of Spring St., Adams and widow of Ralph T. Bacon, passed away Tuesday evening at the Samaritan Keep Home where she had been a resident for one year.
A Celebration of Life Service will be 11 am Saturday, February 1st at the Adams United Methodist Church with Rev, Mona Fargo officiating. Spring burial will be in Adams Rural Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Adams United Methodist Church or to the Sandy Creek High School Alumni Association.
She was born in Lacona, NY March 17, 1923, a daughter to Kenneth and Helen Austin Mathews. Elizabeth graduated from Sandy Creek School, and married Ralph T. Bacon March 17th, 1941. Elizabeth was employed for a time following her marriage at a Dentist office in New Jersey. She returned to the North Country and was employed at the Agricultural Insurance Co. in Watertown, working part time at Woolworths, both in Watertown, at the same time. She later worked at Rices Manufacturing in Adams, retiring from there.
Elizabeth was a member of the Adams United Methodist Church. She enjoyed crocheting in her early years. She enjoyed reading, photo albums, gardening and spending time with her grandchildren.
She is survived by a son, Douglas R., Denton, TX. Two daughters, Diane (Floyd) Taylor and Darcy Hightower, both of Adams. 8 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. Several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband Ralph in February of 1994. A sister Madelyn Hess also predeceased her.
