LISBON: Homer J. Sanderson, 86, of County Route 10, passed away early Wednesday morning on Jan. 29, 2014 at United Helpers River Ledge Nursing Home in Ogdensburg. Friends and family may be received on Feb. 1, 2014 from 2:00 pm until the time of service at Lisbon Reformed Presbyterian Church.
Funeral services will be held at 6:00 pm at the Reformed Presbyterian Church with Pastor Steve Rockhill presiding. Interment will be held in the spring in White Church Cemetery in Lisbon. Homer was born on September 4, 1927 in Lisbon the son of Henry J. and Gertrude (Moore) Sanderson. He attended Lisbon Schools. Homer worked on local farms and helped his father on his own farm and also worked at the State hospital in Ogdensburg for 35 years, 13 years as an attendant and retired in transportation. He also worked at Robinson Brothers garage in Lisbon. In March 1946 he married Alverna French at the Waddington Methodist Parsonage, she predeceased him in 1971. He later married Alice Rutherford in 1973; she predeceased him on Feb. 11, 2009.
Homer was a Deacon for the Orthodox Presbyterian Church. He is survived by his son Carl J. and wife Donna of Lisbon, two grandchildren, Christopher of Shrewsbury, MA, and Carly of Leominster, MA. He was predeceased by two brothers and a sister, David Sanderson and Otis Sanderson in infancy, Betty Craig. Memorial contributions may be made to Lisbon Reformed Presbyterian Church, P.O.
