LISBON As Code Enforcement Officer Christopher J. Sherwin begins the transition to a new job as code enforcement officer in Morristown, the town of Lisbon soon may be looking for someone to fill his shoes.
Mr. Sherwin was offered the position in Morristown, which comes with a $27,000 salary and a 30-hour work week, on Tuesday.
He did not return phone calls or emails requesting comment.
Morristown Town Clerk David J. Murray said Mr. Sherwin has picked up the keys to the office in Morristown and could begin Feb. 19.
Mr. Sherwin will have to take a civil service exam when its offered as part of the requirements of taking the job, Mr. Murray said.
But even as the ball is rolling in Morristown, officials in Lisbon said Thursday they havent heard anything official from Mr. Sherwin.
Lisbon Town Supervisor James W. Armstrong said he doesnt want to speculate on what Mr. Sherwin intends to do, but noted that he was aware of Mr. Sherwins decision to apply with Morristown.
Whether Mr. Sherwin will leave his job in Lisbon or try to do both jobs is unknown.
Lisbon Town Clerk Donna D. McBath and Mr. Armstrong said they have not seen a letter of resignation from Mr. Sherwin.
Mr. Armstrong said he is disappointed Morristown offered the position to Mr. Sherwin because he was happy with the job he was doing in Lisbon.
Mr. Armstrong said the Town Council will discuss the issue in depth at its next meeting Feb. 12.
