State police charged a second man with first-degree burglary in connection to a theft at South Mechanic Street, Carthage.
Police said Steven S. Guindy, 21, of Syracuse, allegedly was involved in the Oct. 29 burglary at the home of Jude T. Astafan, during which a wallet, credit cards, a safe and more than $10,000 in cash were taken.
State police formally charged him at 8:15 p.m. Friday after he was stopped by law enforcement in Onondaga County on an unrelated charge.
Police said Mr. Guindy is being held at the Metro-Jefferson Public Safety Building pending an appearance in Carthage Village Court.
Police on Jan. 22 arrested Matthew Caplin, 21, of Clay, in connection to the thefts.
