Motorists charged with DWI, related offenses

The following are charged with driving while intoxicated and related offenses:

n Robert C. Hoover Jr., 38, of 139 Winthrop St., Apt. 2, also was charged by city police with third-degree criminal mischief, seventh-degree possession of a controlled substance, resisting arrest and failure to keep right after being stopped Friday night on the 21000 block of Hunt Street.

During the stop, Mr. Hoover allegedly fought with officers and dented a police vehicle by kicking it. Police also said they found a substance, which later tested positive as cocaine, in his pocket. They said Mr. Hoover refused a breath test. Charged at 11:31 p.m., he was held at the Metro-Jefferson Public Safety Building on $750 bail pending an appearance in City Court.

n Ryan N. Gomes, 35, of 8535 Spraight Loop, Apt. B, Fort Drum, was charged by city police at 2:14 a.m. Saturday with aggravated DWI and running a red light on the 100 block of Arsenal Street. His blood alcohol content was listed as 0.18 percent.

Under state law, a BAC of 0.08 percent or more constitutes intoxication. Aggravated DWI is charged when the BAC is 0.18 percent or more.

n Marquis O. Reser, 22, of 9147 General Pike Loop, Fort Drum, also was charged by city police with failure to keep right at 1:20 a.m. Saturday on the 100 block of High Street. His BAC was listed as 0.15 percent.

n Amanda L. Cotton, 37, of 532 Stone St., also was ticketed by city police with not wearing her seat belt after being stopped on the 100 block of North Meadow Street at 1 a.m. Saturday. Her BAC was listed as 0.09 percent.

n Fred B. Patterson, 46, of 31 Broad St., Pulaski, was charged by state police at 4:40 p.m. Friday on Interstate 81 in Adams after a routine traffic stop. His BAC was 0.09 percent, police said.

n David S. Sears, 26, Schenectady, also was charged by state police at 8:37 p.m. Friday with third-degree fleeing an officer in a motor vehicle on Route 26, Carthage. His BAC was not immediately available.

n Patricia M. Bush, 24, of 173 W. Main St., Gouverneur, was charged by state police Friday night after she was stopped on Main Street in Gouverneur for failure to signal a lane change, police said. Her BAC was listed as 0.16 percent.

n Christopher W. Cardinell, 27, of 2120 County Route 10, DePeyster, was charged Friday night by state police with felony DWI. Police said he was stopped on Route 11 in Gouverneur for failure to keep right. Mr. Cardinell, who has had a previous DWI conviction within 10 years, had a BAC of 0.17 percent, police said.
