Terrance, Annorh named SUNY Canton Roos of the Week


CANTON - Karyss Terrance (Hogansburg, NY) of the women’s basketball team and Sam Annorh (Queens, NY) of the men’s basketball team have earned Roo of the Week accolades, as announced on Monday.

A former Salmon River Central standout, Terrance was a force in the paint pacing the women’s basketball team to a 2-0 week and extending their winning streak to three games. The forward averaged a double-double on the week with 13.0 points and 13.0 rebounds per outing.

She started the week with eight points and eight rebounds in a 53-47 win against the College of St. Joseph on Friday at home. In a rematch between the two teams on the road on Sunday she had a huge game with 18 point and a game-high 15 rebounds. The sophomore shot 8-15 from the field and added three assists.

Annorh had a monster week leading the men’s basketball team to two wins. The freshman averaged 21.7 points and 5.0 assists per game shooting 50 percent (19-38) from the field. The point guard was even more impressive hitting on 53 percent (9-17) of his attempts from beyond the arc.

Annorh opened the week with career-highs of 29 points and nine assists in a 92-87 overtime win against Johnson State College. His career-highs were also game-highs as he knocked down four of his eight three-point attempts.

The Queens, NY native led the Roos on a 19-4 run to close the game in an 84-79 come from behind victory Friday against the College of St. Joseph. He tallied 20 points on 6-12 shooting to go with four assists. He capped off his week with 16 points including a 3-4 mark from downtown Sunday on the road against the Fighting Saints.

The basketball teams are back in action this evening when they travel to take on Morrisville State. The women tip at 5 p.m. with the men following at 7 p.m.
