Potsdam school bus involved in accident; no one hurt

POTSDAM — A Potsdam Central school bus carrying 10 elementary students was in an accident Monday morning. No one was injured.

The accident occurred at 8:10 a.m. at the corner of Root and Parmenter roads, Superintendent Patrick H. Brady said. “The bus was making a left hand turn onto Parmenter Road when it struck the back left corner of a vehicle traveling east toward Hannawa Falls,” he said.

Bus 31 was being driven by Charlene Randall, 57, of County Route 58 in Colton, Mr. Brady said.

She was ticketed by state police for failure to yield at a stop sign, he said.

The bus struck a truck driven by Joshua Bartlett, 40, of Chestnut Street, Potsdam.

Mr. Brady said no one was injured, but the students were taken for observation by school nurses. “Parents were notified and students remained in school,” he said.

Mr. Brady said the bus was not damaged, but the truck received some damage to a rear quarter panel.

Both were driven from the scene.
