I would like to address this to the citizens of St. Lawrence County who are struggling with high heating cost, rising gas prices, increased food costs and job loss for many.
Judge Jerome Richards and the St. Lawrence County Drug Court are costing taxpayers an additional $27,747 per year according to the Department of Corrections Legacy figures to keep Robert White, a non-violent drug addict, in prison for 10 years. Robert was an employed man, has a home, paid taxes, member of a church community who did volunteer work for seniors, and then had a one-night relapse.
He is in a prison with murderers, rapists and child molesters and exposed to drugs of every kind on a daily basis. He has no program availability to rehabilitate him at Attica. You will have paid more than $277,000 that could have been for your childrens education, your retirement, family medical cost, etc., because of the lack of mercy of Judge Richards and his drug court.
These righteous people dont care how they spend your money. You will see the murders and rapists out in your community before you will see Robert. How do you feel about that?
Please write Judge Richards and his Drug Court at 48 Court St., Canton, NY 13617; or call him at 315-379-2214 and let him and the drug court know.
