Southbound traffic on Interstate 81 has been reopened between exits 42 and 41 Adams Center and Adams after a multi-vehicle crash on the highway near Adams.
The crash was first reported at 4 p.m. and according to Jefferson County Fire and Emergency Management Director Joseph D. Plummer, the road was reopened at around 5:30 p.m.
Multiple law enforcement and emergency crews are responding to the scene of a vehicle that struck a snowplow near Exit 41.
State police said approximately eight vehicles were involved. One man, who was not identified, was taken by ambulance to Samaritan Medical Center. His condition is not known at this time.
Mr. Plummer said a strong band of lake effect snow is to blame for the accident, which had been falling heavily at the time of the accident.
