Another holiday season has passed. Some people celebrated the birth of Christ, some the rededication of the temple in Jerusalem, some materialism, while some took the opportunity to be offended by others religious expressions.
As in the past, one of the TV pundits made the comment that Jesus was born homeless. Jesus and his family were refugees of a tyrannical government. First displaced by Caesar Augustuss decree that the people should be registered (executive action). They then fled to Egypt to avoid King Herods slaughter of infants at Bethlehem. More recently, leaders throughout history such as Stalin, Hitler and Pol Pot have also used mass murder to maintain their power and control over their unarmed opponents. Poorly armed Native Americans in this country were recipients of this tactic in the past. We have progressed to more civilized methods of dealing with opponents such as character assassination.
The ruling class now has the IRS, BATF and other regulatory agencies to intimidate foes. Another method to control the masses is to make then dependent on the government for income (jobs, welfare, grants, etc.), security (disarm them) and health (ObamaCare). Vladimir Lenin said, Socialized medicine is the keystone to the arch of the socialist state.
The operative word is control. The political class also used peoples ignorance and greed to control them. They appeal their greed (cheap health care, income equality and a host of other services) and rely on their ignorance and apathy to keep people from seeing what is really going on (Benghazi, Fast and Furious, IRS abuses, AP and NSA scandals?). They vilify groups who want nothing from the government but to stop the assault on our liberties (NRA, tea party).
Whether you believe the Bible was inspired by God or some old stories, it is filled with stories about right and wrong, good and evil, moral and immoral, and consequences, making it a threat to those who rely on ignorance and greed to maintain their power. Likewise, knowledge of history is also a threat. As sure as history repeats itself, the ignorant will always be with us, so those who value liberty need to stop the governments unconstitutional usurpation of power.
Frederick Douglass said, The limits of tyrants are prescribed by the endurance of those whom they oppress.
