The chairpersons of the Democratic Party in New Yorks 21st Congressional District said they will have an announcement concerning their support for a candidate within the next ten days.
In a news release issued Thursday, the party leaders said they have received expressions of interest from several potential candidates.
Those candidates will be invited to interview with the chairpersons in near future, with a decision expected immediately following the interviews.
We were pleased to hear from so many thoughtful, intelligent individuals who have expressed a tremendous interest in the district and commitment to the citizens of NY 21, Washington County Chairwoman Sheila A. Comar said in the release.
The open interview process is similar to the one that yielded the party Rep. William L. Owens, D-Plattsburgh.
On Jan. 14, Mr. Owens announced that he would not be seeking re-election.
